About speak up for youth
Speak Out for Youth project promotes access to youth friendly sexual and reproductive health information, services and rights in Tanzania.
The project intends to address reproductive health issues affecting youth and these are sexually transmitted infections, unwanted pregnancy, early pregnancy and unsafe abortion.
- To establish sexual and reproductive health clubs in secondary schools. To have 20000 club members by December 2015.
- To use different media platforms to raise awareness on sexual and reproductive health.
- To support a youth events and competitions that will raise awareness on sexual and reproductive health.
- To build a youth friendly health centre in Tanga district that will offer counselling, family planning service and STI treatment and HIV/AIDs testing.
The project will be based in Tanga region, Tanzania. The campaign will branch out to other regions in Tanzania after a successful completion of the first year of the project.
SPEAK OUT FOR YOUTH CLUBS

These are sexual and reproductive health awareness clubs in secondary schools.
They will be platforms for sharing information on sexual reproductive health. Activities done in these groups will include; Competitions- Essays, Public speaking, Debates, Interactive training sessions as well as Youth-led gatherings.
Lately, five secondary schools in Tanga region have Speak Out for Youth clubs. These schools are Macechu, Usagara, Mkwakwani, Old Tanga and Mikanjuni secondary schools. Each school has two student ambassadors who will lead the clubs. The clubs have trainers from the ministry of health who use an available curriculum for teaching students on sexual and reproductive health education.

SPEAK OUT FOR YOUTH VOLUNTEERS
The project has volunteering opportunities for students and professionals, in and outside Tanzania in the field of Public health, Psychology, Medicine, Information and Communication, Technology (ICT), Arts, Film and Journalism.
SPEAK OUR FOR YOUTH CHAMPIONS
The projects invites influential members in the society such as celebrities, politicians, community leaders, journalists etc to join Speak Out for Youth project team in raising awareness on youth sexual and reproductive health issues.
Speak out for youth project team is lead by Ms Sharifa Kalokola who has a wide experience of health communication and promotion.
